The 8th International Georg Philipp Telemann Violin Competition
1. The competition will take place on March 12-14, 2011 at the Henryk Wieniawski School of Music, ul. Solna 12, 61-736 Poznań, Poland, tel. +48 61 852 2855. 2. The competition is organized by the Jarmołowicz Arts Agency and by the Georg Philipp Telemann Violin Competitions Association. Co-organizers are the Henryk Wieniawski School of Music in Poznań, the Mieczysław Karłowicz School of Music in Poznań and Musikschule Coburg e.V.
3. Only students born later than December 31, 1994 are eligible for the competition.
4. Non-Polish contestants are eligible to take part.
5. Contestants will be judged by a jury chosen by the organizers. The competition will be chaired by Professor Michał Grabarczyk.
6. There will be two stages to the competition:
· Stage I: Each contestant will perform one of the 12 Fantasias for Violin without Bass by Georg Philipp Telemann and one piece of the contestant’s choice for violin with piano or solo violin. Cyclic works such as suites, sonatas, concertos or parts thereof are not permitted at this stage. Performance of the selection for Stage I should last not longer than 20 minutes.
· Stage II: Each contestant will perform the first or the second and third movements of any chosen violin concerto.
7. The selections should be played from memory. The use of original editions of the
12 Fantasias (e.g. Bärenreiter-Verlag, Kassel, 1955) is recommended. The selection of works by Polish composers is also recommended.
8. The rules for awarding scores and prizes will be determined by the jury according to a separate set of regulations. Decisions of the jury are final.
9. Contestants will perform in alphabetical order, beginning with a contestant chosen by the drawing of lots.
10. Applications must be submitted no later than December 15, 2010. The application form should be filled out legibly without the use of abbreviations. A short artistic biography of the applicant and an evaluation by a teacher should be included. The information concerning the applicant given on the application form should be confirmed by the principal of the applicant's school. The following must be enclosed with the application:
a. photocopy of proof of payment of the entry fee
b. two photographs of the type used for identity documents, alternatively you may send the photo via e-mail to the organizers address.
11. Applications should be posted to the following address: Poznańska Ogólnokształcąca Szkoła Muzyczna I st. nr 1, ul. Solna 12, 61-736 Poznań, Poland, marking the envelope Telemann Competition.
12. The entry fee is 40 euro. It will not be refunded in the event of a contestant’s withdrawal. The fee must be paid by December 15, 2010 to the following account:

13. The organizers reserve the right to limit the number of contestants.
14. The organizers will not provide accompanists. Costs of travel, room and board are the responsibility of the contestant or the contestant’s sponsor.
15. Notification of acceptance will be sent by January 30, 2011. This notification will include the date and time of the contestant's performance as well as information on room and board availability.
16. Competition winners are obliged to perform in the final gala concert.
17. The competition will conclude with a gala concert featuring the competition winners, and a prize-giving ceremony.
